What do osteopaths "Treat"

Updated: Jul 14, 2020

Were you surprised when you heard osteopaths treat more than just backs?

According to a recent data analysis from ACC TLC osteopaths mainly treat the following complaints:

  • Neck (and the whole spine, not just your low back)

  • Shoulders (as well as bursitis)

  • Knees

  • Ankles/foot (rehab from rolled ankles and plantar fasciatis)

  • Jaws (yes you are reading right! Osteopaths can help with your jaw issues, whether you bit into a crispy piece of bacon or got tackled at rugby).

  • muscle strains

  • Ligaments issues

  • Tendons injuries (tennis elbow, golfers elbows etc)

For non ACC claims (so not related to an incident), we most often help with:

  • Work repetitive strain issues (poor ergonomy, too much sitting, posture)

  • Pregnancy (sciatica, sacroiliac joint pain, pelvic floor weakness, breathing issues, heartburn, nausea)

  • Babies (plagiocephaly, reflux, hip dysplasia, shoulder dystosia, bowel irregularity and sleep issues)

  • headaches/migraines

Once patients have had their issues delt with and realised how good it feels to be pain-free, they often ask if they can come back for follow ups every couple of weeks (usually 6-9 weeks) to keep on top of it all.

Here at TLC Osteopaths we believe in being proactive and look at the long term impact an injury or a habit can have on the rest of the body, so rest assured we will do our best to give you all the tools you need at home to maintain all the work we do in the clinic.

After all, we are here to keep you away from here, as much as we love catching up with you all, it makes us so happy to see you out there doing what you love.

Don't delay it, if you have been meaning to book in, let's lock it in now!
