FAQ

HOW LONG ARE THE APPOINTMENTS?

All our bookings are 40 minutes long. This is reasonably standard. Some clinics offer shorter time slots, others are longer. You can read more about Hamilton Osteopaths here

WHAT TYPES OF HEALTH INSURANCE DO YOU ACCEPT?

Insurers may cover part of all of the costs. Our main affiliations are with:
ACC
Southern Cross
Work AON
However, we work with most insurance groups. Please contact us or your provider before attending to avoid disappointment.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT

First, we would like to welcome you to the TLC family!

We will kindly ask you to fill in a form to give us some information in regards to the reason of your visit. This form also has an ACC claim section that you can fill in the instance of an injury.

Other information about bookings policies will be found at the bottom of this form.

DO I NEED A DOCTOR’S REFERRAL?

TLC Osteopaths are primary healthcare practictioners, which means you do not need any referral to come see us, even if you have had an injury. We lodge claims for you and will refer you to other health professional if need be. Rest assured we will look after you from beginning to end.
This is valid for all patients from all walks of life, injured or the ones just wanting a bit of TLC!

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR ?

We recommend you wear what you feel most comfortable in.

if you need to wear long pants we do recommend loose leggings and preferably no jeans. If we are treating your neck, avoid wearing a collar or turtle neck.

WILL THE TREATMENT HURT?

All the techniques we use at TLC osteopaths are gentle but we often refer to good and bad pains. Good pain is the pain that "hurts but feels like it's doing good". If at any point you are experiencing pain, please let us know and we will be more than happy to modify the treatment to accommodate your needs.

Some patients experience pain after their treatment and that is totally normal. It is your body going through the changes.

WHAT IF I HAVE ALREADY STARTED USING MY ACC CLAIM WITH ANOTHER PRACTITIONER?

That is not a problem at all. We will just need you to give us the date of injury and what happened and we will call ACC to get the rest.

You have a year to claim for an injury and then a year to use your claim since the day you started claiming.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OSTEOS, PHYSIOS AND CHIROS?

This is a question we get so often so we have written a post about it here.

What do I wear to an appointment?

1. Shorts and/or a singlet is the easiest option. But if that's not possible -

2. More often than not, we prefer to be able to see and touch the area in pain. Sore neck? avoid collars and turtle necks. Sore knee? Avoid tight pants that won't roll-up. Sore hip or groin? wear flexible clothing so we can move the joint as much as possible.

3. None of the above is O.K. with you? Well that's O.K. with us. Please get in contact and we will see what we can do.
