Low back pain can be so debilitating. It comes on for a wide range of reasons and it normally takes a few types of interventions to sort it out (stretches, exercises, osteo, needles etc) Ultimately, it's about getting you moving again and stretches are a great way to do just that. So, here are our top 3 stretches to get you back on your feet, and one bonus tip that should not surprise you. 1. Modified Child's pose This is an 'in house special'. I've never seen it posted elsewhere although I'm sure it's out there. Stretch as per below, but once you are in this position, come back on all four and from there go bac to child's pose trying to reach further (try to lengthen your spine more each time).
2. Mckenzie extensions / Cobra pose
This is a widely popular tried and true stretch. But, if this makes your pain worse then back off and keep to the other two.
3. Figure 4 against the wall Probably the best hip stretch in the world.
4. Walk it off. Well you probably can't walk it off entirely. However, walking is the golden child for calming down back ache. If your pain is so severe that you cannot walk, then keep to the stretches for now and give us a call if it has not calmed down in a day or so.
